We will begin today’s faith journey by looking at Psalm 62:1, 2, 7,  8 through the lens of various translations.

New King James Version (NKJV)
Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.”

In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

 Amplified Bible (AMP)

For God alone my soul waits in silence; from Him comes my salvation.
He only is my Rock and my Salvation, my Defense and my Fortress, I shall not be greatly moved.
With God rests my salvation and my glory; He is my Rock of unyielding strength and impenetrable hardness, and my refuge is in God!

Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us (a fortress and a high tower).

Contemporary English Version (CEV)
Only God can save me, and I calmly wait for[a] him.
God alone is the mighty rock[bthat keeps me safe and the fortress where I am secure.
God saves me and honors me. He is that mighty rock where I find safety.
Trust God, my friends, and always tell him each one of your concerns. God is our place of safety.

The Message (MSG)
1-2 God, the one and only—I’ll wait as long as he says.
Everything I need comes from him, so why not?
He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul,
An impregnable castle: I’m set for life.

7-8 My help and glory are in God—granite-strength and safe-harbor-God—
So trust him absolutely, people; lay your lives on the line for him. God is a safe place to be.
From these verses, I would like to establish and settle on the following truths:
You can trust God!
God is my God of Salvation and Deliverance!
God is my Refuge!
God is my Fortress!
God is my impregnable castle!
God is my solid rock under my feet!
God is my Strength!
God is my Defense!
God is my Mighty Rock!
My expectation comes from God!
I invite you to personalize this Psalm when you read and meditate upon it.
To trust God means to “lean on, rely on, and have confidence in God.”
To ‘trust’ means to:
  • to rely upon or place confidence in someone
  • to have confidence; hope
  • to have trust or confidence in; rely or depend on.
  • to believe
  • to expect confidently; hope
  • to permit to remain or go somewhere or to do something without fear of consequences

Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me [ceased from fretting].” (Psalm 131:2, AMP)
When you choose to trust God, you choose to cease from worrying and fretting because trust in God takes you to a place of absolute rest and confidence in God’s character and ability.  It takes you to a place of expectation and knowing that God is highly capable to act on your behalf.
When you choose to trust God, you cease from manipulating things, situations, events, and people and you allow God to display His Glory in the midst of your circumstances.
  • Are you currently facing a difficult situation in which your financial resources are not sufficient to deliver you?
  • Are you currently facing a difficult situation in which your health is not at its optimum best?
  • Are you currently facing a difficult situation in which your loved ones are not able to rescue you?
  • Are you currently facing a difficult situation where it seems that all hope is gone and that there is no one to help you?
Take comfort and courage! You are in a ‘ripe’ situation whereby if you shift your gaze or expectation from the natural to the supernatural, from the created to the Creator, that God will manifest Himself right there in the midst of your situation. You are in a situation whereby all the glory will go to God as He manifests Himself strong on your behalf.
Psalm 121, NKJV
I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.

Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.
Take comfort today, in believing that you will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13)

My closing encouragement for you today is found in Exodus 14:13 and 2 Chronicles 20:17 respectively.
“Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians [or enemies] whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”
COMING ATTRACTION
As we continue this faith adventure this week, I will share with you how the difficult circumstances that we sometimes find ourselves in are opportunities for God to put His glory on display.
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the [consistently] righteous man [upright and in right standing with God] runs into it and is safe, high [above evil] and strong.” Proverbs 18:10
Find safety, security and comfort in God alone!
